South Australia is hoping to boost its reputation as a clean, green state by hosting a clean technology conference next year.
The SA Government is organising the CleverGreen Showcase and Conference for February 15-16. It has also provided $250,000 in funding for the event, which will showcase “CleanTech” tools and technologies, as well as featuring national and international speakers.
Environment and Conservation Minister Jay Weatherill said Clever Green was aimed at ensuring South Australians benefited from the anticipated rapid growth in the clean technology sector.
“Hosting Clever Green will build on South Australia’s reputation as a leader in the green economy,” he said.
“The CleanTech sector and the green jobs it will provide will be a significant part of South Australia’s future. Clever Green will provide benefits for the state’s economy, while building momentum to reduce South Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring the ecologically sustainable use of our natural resources.”
SA businesses and research institutions at the forefront of the clean technology sector will be showcased at the event. Speakers will also aim to increase understanding of global trends, market opportunities and government policy.
