Fringe review - Hot Pink Bits Rides Again, Penny Ashton

28 Feb, 2008 09:03 AM
New Zealander Penny Ashton is naughty but nice and seriously funny. At last year’s Fringe her Hot Pink Bits was a triumph. This year she is back with a sumptuous mix of burlesque, laughter, inspirational insight, social commentary and education in Hot Pink Bits Rides Again. Like Ashton, the show is clever, sharp, original and utterly likeable.

This time, Hot Pink Poet, stunning in a saucy pink outfit, discusses the ins and outs of the global sex industry. It is a romping good time as the world’s oldest profession is laid bare. There is singing, dancing, stripping and preaching about prostitutes, fetishes (some you may never have heard of) and porn. Everything is open to scrutiny. Well-known songs are perverted with tongue-in-cheek charm and everyone is taken along for the fun ride.

Ashton is irresistibly charismatic, her humour is infectious and her razor sharp wit incisive and exceedingly saucy. See her Hot Pink Bits and you won’t be disappointed. The pastry Bakery until 16th March.
