Blass wolfs the competition

4/09/2008 4:16:00 PM
Barossa Valley winemaker Wolf Blass has been named the International Red Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in London.

The award was made after judging of more than 9,000 wines from 40 countries by a panel of 370 winemakers, merchants and writers.

As well as the overall honour, the company won awards for all 16 wines it entered in the London competition, including two golds.

"This award is a testament to the passion, vision and experience of the entire Wolf Blass winemaking team," said Wolf Blass chief winemaker Chris Hatcher.

"This is an absolute team effort and one we are honoured to receive."

The International Wine Challenge is the world's largest wine competition.
