Body found in Spencer Gulf

4/09/2008 2:00:00 PM
The body of a man has been found in South Australia's Spencer Gulf.

Police said they were still to confirm if the body was that of a 40-year-old man missing in the area after an apparent boating mishap overnight.

A search for the man was launched about midnight after he failed to return to Port Pirie from a fishing trip.

About an hour later an overturned boat was found in a mangrove area.

Water police, a helicopter and police divers were called in to help with the search today.

The body was found at about 9.30am.
