Man denies samurai sword killing

30 Jun, 2009 04:42 PM
A man accused of killing a party-goer with a samurai sword has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Chansyna Duong, 21, entered the plea in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday and was ordered to appear again on August 4.

Defence lawyer David Edwardson said his client conceded there was a case to answer.

Duong is accused of inflicting a fatal blow on Thea Keav, 21, at a party in the northern Adelaide suburb of Parafield Gardens in December 2007.

Prosecutors previously alleged Mr Keav was attacked by a group of men and, as he tried to escape over a fence, was pulled down and hit with a piece of wood.

Duong then allegedly inflicted the fatal wound with the samurai sword.

Two other men have also been charged with Mr Keav's murder, with one pleading not guilty.

The third man is yet to enter a plea.
