South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is delivering a speech at The Old Mill in Hahndorf today titled ‘Someone call a doctor, the planet has a fever’.
Senator Hanson-Young is the keynote speaker at the Environmental Health Australia Institute’s annual conference.
The conference, with the theme, ‘Putting Environmental Health through the Mill: Local Actions with Global Impacts’ is aimed at a borad cross-section of the community, “Whether you’re a health professional, a politician or a parent, the impact of climate change on health is becoming increasingly more evident. We need to recognise what these implications are and take urgent action to remedy them. This includes how Australia decides to tackle the broader issues of climate change by reducing our carbon emissions enough to make a positive impact on health. The only thing holding us back is the political influence of those with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.” Senator Hanson-Young said.
