A well-organised drug syndicate has been dismantled after Queensland police intercepted a truck carrying cannabis and raided eight houses.
The truck was pulled over in the Brisbane suburb of Salisbury yesterday, as part of a police operation targeting the use of heavy haulage trucks to import drugs to Queensland.
Police said detectives found 22.7kg of cannabis inside the truck.
The driver, a 57-year-old South Australian man, was charged with drug trafficking.
Three other men were also charged with a string of offences, including drug trafficking, drug possession and possession of the proceeds of crime.
All four men are due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
Eight residences were raided at Ipswich as part of the operation, resulting in the seizure of a 16kg of cannabis and $110,000 in cash.
