South Australian batsman Mark Cosgrove remains in doubt for the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland starting Sunday.
Cosgrove has been included in a 12-man Redbacks squad for the Adelaide Oval encounter but is battling to recover from a hamstring strain.
Cosgrove injured a hamstring during SA's drawn Shield match against Victoria last week, forcing him out of last Wednesday's one-dayer against the Bushrangers.
SA coach Mark Sorell said today he was "holding out a bit of hope" that Cosgrove could prove his fitness by Sunday.
"It is difficult with hamstrings ... fingers crossed he'll be able to come out of it all right, but we'll wait and see," Sorell said.
"Obviously four days (of cricket) is a long time and so we have got to make sure he's right to go."
Cosgrove's injury was a minor strain, he said.
"It's not a major one fortunately, but it's pretty demanding, four day cricket.
"We need Mark to be able to bat and bowl for us as well as get around in the field so we have to make sure he's right before we make an assessment on his playing."
Queensland have recalled paceman Nathan Rimmington, the fast bowler overcoming an ankle injury and replacing Nathan Reardon in their 12-man squad.
