Philippoussis, Cash for World Tennis Challenge

02 Oct, 2008 05:41 PM
Australians Mark Philippoussis and Pat Cash will headline the inaugural World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide next January.

Philippoussis and Cash will form Australia's team in the unique event in which the host nation will compete against the United States, France and Sweden.

Former greats Jim Courier, Mats Wilander and Henri Leconte will also feature in the January 14-16 tournament at Memorial Drive.

Each team will consist of a past legend and a current star, with two courts operating simultaneously each night.

The Swedish team comprises seven-time grand slam champion and Davis Cup legend Wilander and current Davis Cup player and 2002 Australian Open winner Thomas Johansson.

France's Leconte will be teamed with current world no.26 Gael Monfils while Courier's partner has yet to be confirmed.
