Jackson's lawyer faces manslaughter charge

09 Feb, 2010 08:51 AM
The doctor authorities say caused Michael Jackson's death has arrived at a Los Angeles courthouse to face a manslaughter charge.

One person shouted "murderer" today as Dr Conrad Murray walked past a throng of reporters and Michael Jackson fans and into the courthouse adjacent to Los Angeles International Airport.

Murray, a cardiologist who was with Jackson when he died June 25 at his rented Los Angeles mansion, faces up to four years in prison if convicted. Authorities say he caused Jackson's death by administering a powerful sedative to help him sleep.

Members of Michael Jackson's family have also arrived at the courthouse, with Jackson's father saying he is "looking for justice".

Jackson hired Murray to be his personal physician as he prepared for a strenuous series of comeback performances in London. The doctor faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Murray's lawyer Ed Chernoff said he would plead not guilty.

Dr. Murray is wrong to think he shouldn't be held responsible for the death of Michael, or any patient due to the use of such a powerful anesthetic. Michael may have been an 'oddball' as the tabloids deemed him through the years, but he may not have been but a very intuitive man who loved children and all humans and animals. If he had been a female I wonder if any speculation to his love of children would have been questioned? I don't think so, even if the children had slept in the same bed as a woman, it would have been termed bonding and a comfort sharing. It's a double standard. Michael was acquitted. He didn't deserve the decimation of his life in the tabloids before any absolute truth was found, which never was. That's why he was acquitted. He had horrifying nightmares after all the trauma of the accusations, arrest, incarceration, and trial, and who wouldn't? He surely didn't deserve to die the way he did, by the hands of his own physician, in his own home, with an anesthesia used in hospitals, and used to uthenize animals -it's insane in itself to use such a powerful drug in a home setting and that's in the least negligence. I hope Joe and family get justice.
